The past few months have been quite busy, in a totally good fantastic FABULOUS way! I relaunched the Buck and Libby brand back in late October and have since been blown away by the amount of encouragement, enthusiasm, and orders coming my way!
Most of my December was spent working on custom doodles that people ordered as Christmas gifts. It has been so much fun getting to meet so many wonderful people and to be able to help them give a unique, handmade gift this holiday season. Their kind words and support have meant the world to me!
One story in particular that really touched me was of a woman who contacted me about getting a custom illustration done of her home. She heard of my shop through a Mommy Group that my sister belongs to, where my sister had posted a picture of a doodle I did of her kids. (See below). She didn't ask for a discount or try to haggle with me, she simply emailed, requested more information, and said she would be in contact.
I later found out that the home she wanted illustrated was to be a gift for her husband, and it was their home that had sadly been destroyed during Hurricane Sandy. They had lost everything and she wanted to give it to her husband as a keepsake. I was touched and honored to be able to create something for her that carried so much meaning.
Another touching aspect to this story is that prior to my creating a custom illustration for her, another woman from their Mommy Group contacted me. She had recently ordered a custom doodle of her own and said that she wanted to contribute money toward the woman's order for her husband. It's these rare acts of kindness and generosity that the holidays are all about!
So, I've been a happy, busy bee these past few months and now that the holiday rush has settled down a bit, it's time to focus on 2013. Instead of Resolutions this year, I started a project called "A Year Of Less", focused on having less of one thing each week as a way to streamline my life and clear my mind. You can find more about this project (and join the fun!) at the website here: A YEAR OF LESS.
Aside from this project, which is geared toward my life in general, I also came up with a handful of goals for Buck & Libby specifically:
Buck & Libby is a giant learning process for me and I'm excited to try new things, produce new products, expand the brand, and hopefully put a few smiles on people's faces in 2013!
